President of Poland Lays Flowers at the Tadeusz Kościuszko Monument in St. Petersburg, Florida US

image
On June 16, 2026 President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, paid tribute to one of the greatest heroes of both Poland and the United States by laying flowers at the Tadeusz Kościuszko Monument in St. Petersburg, Florida. The monument, created by renowned sculptor Andrzej Pityński and funded by the American Institute of Polish Culture Tampa Bay, stands as a symbol of the enduring friendship between Poland and the United States.
For more than two decades, the monument has served as a gathering place for the Polish American community on Florida’s West Coast. Each year, members of Polonia gather here to commemorate Polish Constitution Day (May 3) and Polish Independence Day (November 11), honoring Poland’s history, heritage, and commitment to freedom. (Special thanks to the City of St. Petersburg for clearing the path for this occasion in the middle of major renovations at the park.)
Bozena Gasior, AIPC Board of Directors member, welcomed President Nawrocki. She was also joined by Russell Skibicki, President of The Kosciuszko Foundation’s Florida Chapter. The Kosciuszko Foundation is a distinguished Polish American cultural and educational organization in the United States, dedicated to strengthening ties between Poland and America for over 100 years. Just as the American Institute of Polish Culture in Tampa Bay, Kosciuszko Foundation supports education by offering scholarships.
Many representatives of Polish schools, cultural organizations, and community groups welcomed President Nawrocki at the Polskie Centrum im. Jana Pawla II, Inc. www.polishcenterfl.com. Ms. Antonina Hubska, Mr. Michal Bak and Mr. Pawel Dembinski were recognized for their support of the Polish American community. Their dedication continues to strengthen and enrich the Polish community throughout Florida. The Polish Saturday schools in Clearwater and Tarpon Springs presented their programs that made every proud!
